THE sun was splitting the stones in Donnycarney. Paul Ryan was splitting the posts. Boden had to work for their semi-final ticket in front of a decent gallery in a terrific tussle

Vincent’s stuck with Boden for most of the way. Mossy McGrane’s first touch could teach the multitudes.

Diarmuid Connolly (pictured) was in the helmet. Playing at midfield alongside his brother, Tom.

The McBrides, Cian and Rian, hit some tasty scores for the Marino men. Davy Garland excelled at left half-back.

Boden’s centre half-back, James Madden, showed his worth. Kenny Wigglesworth was outstanding.

Stephen O’Connor, David Curtin, Niall McMorrow and David O’Connor added drive. Boden just had a deeper well of scorers.

Five times they were level before the break, but it was Boden who led at the tea, 1-11 to 0-8. The goal came at the church end on 28 minutes from David O’Connor.

Vincent’s hit the first three scores of the second period to cut the deficit to three, but that’s as close as they got.
