Royals give Capital help in Leinster
DUBLIN now look set to be represented in the Leinster club SFC after all after Meath confirmed that they would not be objecting to a proposal to push back the date of the scheduled first round clash between the champions of the respective counties.
The massive backlog of Evening Herald Dublin SFC matches will begin to be cleared next week after huge delays due to the Dublin senior footballers' extended summer.
As a result, a motion will be put to Leinster Council seeking a delay in the meeting of the Dublin champions against the Meath winners -- Dunshaughlin or Summerhill -- from October 23 to November 13.
"These are very exceptional circumstances for Dublin with the way their year went," confirmed county board secretary, Cyril Creavin. "There was no conclusion to the debate but it would be unlikely that we would object. After what Dublin have done, it wouldn't be the way to go."
As result of the delay, the Leinster CCC are also proposing the provincial club final be moved from December 4 to December 18, allowing almost no room to fit in the possibility of replays.
Cha denies Dubs link
KILKENNY'S former All-Ireland winning captain, James 'Cha' Fitzpatrick, has laughed off suggestions that he is preparing to switch his county allegiances to Dublin.
The Ballyhale Shamrocks star is currently working in Dublin but would require a switch of club in order to be eligible to tog out for Anthony Daly's team.
"I have no intention of transferring anywhere,'' he said. "I wouldn't leave Kilkenny or the Shamrocks, who are one of the best clubs in the country with a great record.
"I think people must just make up these stories. I suppose they saw I wasn't playing with Kilkenny and things took off from there.
"I am very happy in the Kilkenny set-up."
Offaly no to ó Sé
THE Offaly county board have ruled out the possibility of Darragh Ó Sé becoming their next senior football manager.
"No, he is not on our list," said Offaly chairman, Pat Teehan.
"You get names thrown about with every county job, but we haven't interviewed anybody yet."
