Reilly blow for McEnaney’s Royals
KEVIN REILLY has almost certainly been ruled out of Meath's Leinster semi-final with Kildare in Croke Park on Sunday (2.0) while there remains an outside chance that Seánie Johnston could feature.
The Royal full-back has been struck down by the recurrence of an Achilles injury, a major blow for Seamus McEnaney if he is to start without his International Rules cap in direct combat with Kildare's powerful full-forward, Tomás O'Connor.
Johnston, meanwhile, could yet be available for the Lilywhites after fresh rumours swept Kildare that he could make some appearance for hurling club, Coill Dubh on Saturday, thus making him eligible.
Coill Dubh face Eire óg Corrachoill in Clane (4.0) in the second of two preliminary round fixtures at the venue and even a brief cameo for the former Cavan attacker would mean he is officially a Kildare player.
EOIN CADOGAN has chosen the Cork footballers over the county's hurlers next weekend after deciding to play in the Munster SFC final for Conor Counihan's charges against Clare on July 8 rather than the All-Ireland SHC qualifier with Offaly just 24 hours before.
LAOIS have made three changes for their All-Ireland SFC qualifier with Carlow on Saturday. Jamie Kavanagh replaces Peter O'Leary at corner-back, while Kevin Meaney moves to centre-back in place of Shane Julian.
Damien O'Connor and Colm Kelly both come into a new-look attack in place of Meaney and Billy Sheehan.
LAOIS (SF v Carlow): E Culliton; C Healy, K Lillis, J Kavanagh; D Strong. K Meaney, C Boyle; B Quigley, J O’Loughlin; D O’Connor, C Begley, G Walsh; R Munnelly, P Clancy, C Kelly.
