COLIN O'RIORDAN has declared himself fit for Sunday's Munster SFC opener with Kerry in Thurles, writes Conor McKeon.
O'Riordan, who yesterday was announced as the EirGrid U21 Footballer of the Year for his performances in Tipperary's campaign, limped out of the Premier County's big win over Waterford two weeks back with a lingering hip injury, casting doubt over his availability for a game in which Tipp are being given a greater chance of success against one of Munster's big two than is the norm.
He trained on Tuesday, however, having undergone a clear scan and while O'Riordan will almost certainly need an operation at the end of the season, he is now set to play in Semple Stadium against the All-Ireland champions.
"We feel that we are able to put it up to them now," insisted the UCD student.
"It is no more a case of travelling with hope more than expectation.
"We are going there for the win and there is no point saying otherwise because that is why you play, you play to win.
"That is the mentality that we are trying to get into the group."
