Plunkett's lower Lucan

St Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh produced a superb defensive effort when accounting for Lucan Sarsfields by 0-12 to 0-6 in their Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 8 promotion play-off final at the Phoenix Park last Sunday afternoon.

Mick Gregan gave an immense display for the winners and he received great defensive cover from Ian Conaghan, Ciarán Fitzpatrick and Michael Killian O'Dwyer with goalkeeper Seán Treacy also in fine form.

Plunkett's enjoyed a 0-6 to 0-5 interval lead with Dan Conaghan and Diarmuid McGrath sharing their total and McGrath's influence increased upon the restart as he took his personal tally to eight points by the final whistle.

That the visitors remained in contention throughout was down to the consistent displays of Ollie Collins, Simon O'Keeffe, Dara Quinn and Joe McCarthy, who worked tirelessly for Sars.

However, Plunkett's were not to be denied and they sealed their return to Division 7 thanks to second-half scores from Dan Conaghan, McGrath and Dan Larkin.
