North taste double joy
Leinster U-14 football blitz
DUBLIN'S U-14 North football outfit produced two impressive displays in their intercounty blitz in Hawkfield, Co Kildare last Saturday afternoon.
Their first outing was a more competitive affair as they eventually got the better of the hosts' side by 2-15 to 1-7.
The key personnel in the opening fixture included Donagh McNamara from St Maur's, Fionán O'Sullivan of Skerries Harps, James O'Connor from St Brigid's and Lee Gannon of Whitehall Colmcille while Ciaran Archer impressed in a lively showing by the Dublin attack.
The second tie proved far more straightforward with five goals in the opening six minutes helping to ensure an emphatic 12-17 to 0-2 victory over a struggling Westmeath selection.
A feature of the win was the free-taking prowess from both feet of Jordan Leonard with Alan McKenna-Byrne from St Sylvester's also making a valuable contribution. Ballymun duo Andrew McCaul and Sean Cuke were others to show well alongside Carl Stanley of Whitehall Colmcille.
"It was good to get the lads out," said manager Martin Grehan. "We have a nice club ethos about us."
