Commercials close in on 125th

ONE of the most distinguished names of hurling, Commercials, celebrate their 125th birthday on February 25 at the Louis Fitzgerald Hotel.

It will be a gala occasion which will begin with a drinks reception at 7pm followed by a meal and dancing. Tickets cost €45. They can be secured at €40 if purchased before February 4.

Parnell's Coyne Blitz is a classic

PARNELL'S staged the inaugural Karl Coyne Memorial U12 Football Blitz last Saturday. Taking part were Navan O'Mahony's, Kilcock, St Margaret's and the hosts.

The tournament honoured the memory of Karl who played and managed at Parnell's for years. Parnell's took gold with three wins.

They had super shows from Adam Griffin, Scott Redmond, Adam Meyler, Jack Reilly and Liam Fahy.

"It was a wonderful day. The players really enjoyed it." says Gary Cooper. "Big crowds turned up and many thanks to all the clubs, the parents who provided the food, and the mentors for giving their time."



Daly's heroes in the Wars again

DALO'S Dubs are off to the theatre. They are heading to The Olympia to watch The All-Star Wars.

The production is proving quite a hit. The two-hour show contains some cracking comedy. Tickets are €30. Bring the team along (first 15) and the subs go free. It starts on February 7 and runs for a week. Phone 01-6486029.



Dubs dancing way to Castlebar

DUBLIN will be in the All-Ireland final in Castlebar on Saturday, February 18.

The Na Fianna Figure Dancers and St Patrick's Palmerstown's Roisin Brady (Recitation) will arrive in Mayo as the Scór na nóg Leinster champions.

Scór Sinsir county semi-finals are on Tuesday, February 7 in Lucan Sarsfields and Thursday February 9 at Naomh Mearnóg (7.30pm). Entry is €20 per club, regardless of the number of categories entered. A club must enter a minimum of two categories. The categories are Figure Dancing, Set Dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Trad music group, Recitation, Novelty Act and Question Time.

The county final is in Craobh Chiaráin (7.30pm) on Thursday, February 23.



Places still available for na Páistí

Scór na bPáistí has exactly the same categories as Scór Sinsir.

It is for children of Primary school age only. This year it takes place in St Peregrine's GAA Club on Saturday, February 25th (2.30pm). Entry €20 per club.
