BIG news for Parnell's at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Santry on Saturday night. They were voted the Best Community Sports Club in Ireland.
RTé's Miriam O'Callaghan hosted the gig. Councillor Pat Crimmins had nominated Parnell's in the Local Authority Members Association (LAMA) awards, which celebrate projects that have shown excellence in their community.
Parnell's chairman Frank Gleeson said: "A big thanks to everybody at the club. We wouldn't have achieved this without team-work.
"It's brilliant for the club to be recognised on a national level for their community work. Our new club and facilities in Chanel have been a huge success.
"The local people have given their support in our efforts to make Parnell's the heart of the Coolock/Artane area for GAA and other community-based activities.
"Our membership has grown to 3,500 members. That figure includes 1,200 senior citizens, who are enjoying the most modern facilities for sports and social activities.
"We are thrilled to have hosted some big championship matches. Everybody is welcome at Parnell's."
