Murphy strike propels Lucan past O'Dwyer's

LUCAN Sarsfields began a big week for the club successfully, thanks to a brilliant 1-14 to 0-14 win over O'Dwyer's in the JHC 'F' final at O'Toole Park on Sunday.

The west Dublin club are in the Junior 'A' hurling final against Castleknock this Sunday, while three days before that, the senior hurlers tackle Craobh Chiaráin for a place in the 'A' Championship final.

A goal from Stephen Murphy 15 minutes from time was the crucial moment, after the sides traded scores for most of the game.

Ger Twohig, operating between centre-forward and midfield, showed off his awesome engine as he got through a mountain of work in a man-of-the-match display.

Attacker Shane Donohue helped himself to 0-7, six from frees, ruthlessly punishing any indiscipline in the opposition defence.

The likes of Kieran McGrath and Christy Flynn also popped over vital scores.

Club chairman and team mentor Pat O'Keeffe was delighted after the rousing victory in Crumlin. He said: "This year, it just clicked."
