Moorefield to start with win

MOOREFIELD have made a habit of mounting big comebacks this year, a good sign in this most gruelling of competitions.

Most significantly, they were five behind Sarsfields in their drawn county final but pegged their neighbours back and then experience took over.

They went down by four points to Portlaoise in last year's Leinster semi-final so a recalibration of ambition is only natural.

Cian O'Neill, the man who trained this year's All-Ireland champions, Kerry, has been permanently aboard Luke Dempsey's management ship since the end of the summer and in √Čanna and Cian O'Connor (Jack's sons), the Kingdom link doesn't end at the sideline.

Vitally, Rathnew are without county players Leighton Glynn and Nicky Mernagh though that isn't to say they lack for experience.

Midfielder James Stafford captains the side and Tommy Gill survives from their Leinster title winning team of 2001.

Rathnew 11/2, Draw 11/1, Moorefield 1/8

VERDICT: Moorefield
