Micheál is still skipping to the beat
His Master's Voice came over the radio. On the Ray D'Arcy Show. Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh was just back from the Ryder Cup. He drove into Cork from Dingle. And that same night he'd be driving to Meath.
He's eight years gone from the commentary box now. But he's as busy as ever. "People should always try keep active," he advises.
He doesn't put much store in birthdays. "Birthdays were never a big thing in Kerry. Generations ago, people in Kerry didn't even know what age they were."
Micheál hasn't smoked for over 40 years. "But I was a regular smoker when I was ten. Everybody smoked back then. They said it was good for your health. It kept you thin!
"It's funny how things change. Even football!" Micheál welcomes the proposed changes to football. "There is never nothing lost in trying."
