meeting set to discuss Shankill's awakening

THE Shankill GAA club is to be revived. The word has lifted all in the pretty village.

There will be a public meeting on Thursday, February 21, at the Resource Centre at Shankill Church (8pm).

"We'd like to invite parents, friends and indeed everyone in the community to come along," says Mick Killeen.

"We formed a group to examine the possibility of reviving the club, and we aim now to focus on the juvenile sector, with the ages ranging from five to 16.

"We want to give the boys and girls of Shankill the opportunity to play Gaelic games. And we are hoping for a good response," added Mick.

"The Dublin County Board conducted a root-and-branch review of Dublin GAA last year. And in that Blue Wave report, certain areas were identified as being viable and sustainable to support new clubs. Shankill was one such area."
