Mayo board rejects Horan venue blast
THE Mayo county board has defended its response to the GAA's controversial decision to fix last month's All-Ireland SFC semi-final replay for Limerick instead of Croke Park.
Departed Mayo manager James Horan has rekindled the controversy by claiming: "The most unbelievable part of the whole matter was the fact that our own county board didn't come out and say something when the president of the GAA told Mayo to stop complaining and concentrate on the game if they knew what was good for them."
But Mayo PRO Aidan McLoughlin countered that it wasn't "fair to say we didn't stand up. I don't think I ever spoke to as many journalists. We were very vocal in our objection to Limerick."
Shane Ward has been ratified as Leitrim football manager while retaining his role as U21 boss.
