Maur's keep promotion dreams alive
Dublin afl 5/6 round-up
ST Maur's maintained their promotion credentials as they overcame Castleknock by 2-10 to 0-7 in their Dublin Adult Football League Division 6 encounter at Somerton Park last Sunday morning.
The foundation for their win lay in a concentrated defensive effort with the display of Séamus Harford epitomising their tightness.
Further up the field, Barry Hogan provided a wealth of possession at midfield, allowing Peter Reynolds, Colm Lawlor and Robbie Reynolds to shine in attack with Rob Kelly and Chris Moore finding the net for the Rush club.
Elsewhere in AFL6, St Sylvester's proved too strong for Naomh Fionnbarra, securing a 2-14 to 1-8 success at Broomfield.
Dual player Kevin O'Flynn excelled at centre-back for the hosts, who pulled clear thanks largely to the efforts of Peter O'Byrne, David Bannigan, Conor Mullarkey and Gareth McGrath.
At Blunden Drive, four points from Cormac Ryan helped Whitehall Colmcille to get the better of O'Toole's by 2-15 to 2-11.
Ryan was hugely influential for the visitors as he completed his first 60 minutes of football this year and he received valuable support from Seán Lawless, Brian Henry, Andrew Hurley and the tireless John Moore.
There were also away wins for Fingallians and Skerries Harps over St Jude's and Civil Service respectively while Wanderers enjoyed their second win of the year as they defeated St James' Gaels by 1-6 to 0-8 in Frank Kelly Park.
In AFL5, both Cuala and St Vincent's strengthened their positions at the top of the table with the Dalkey outfit proving far too strong for St Brigid's, winning by 3-14 to 0-3 in Hyde Park.
Vinnies remain hot on their heels after beating Innisfails by 2-16 to 0-11.
