Major changes in Blues’ minors

MANAGER Shay Boland has made four changes to Dublin's starting line-up ahead of tomorrow’s Electric Ireland Leinster MHC semi-final against Kilkenny in Portlaoise (3.15).

With Ross Tierney ruled out with a wrist injury, dual player Eric Lowndes, an instrumental figure in last year’s run to the All-Ireland Final, makes his first start of the championship following a hand injury and is placed at left corner-back.

Eoghan O’Donnell replaces Tom Devlin at wing-back while the third change is at centrefield where Cuala’s Colm Cronin also returns from injury at the expense of Kevin O’Flynn to start alongside Cormac Costello.

In a rejigged forward line, Cronin’s Cuala club-mate Seán Treacy returns to the side at centre-forward after showing well in recent challenge games with Paul Winters moving inside to complete a full-forward line alongside Cian Boland and Oisin O’Rorke.

CORK and Tipperary have both rung the changes for Sunday’s Munster SHC semi-final, writes Frank Roche.

Jimmy Barry-Murphy has made six alterations from the team crushed by Kilkenny in the NHL final - losing out are ’keeper Martin Coleman, Stephen McDonnell, Seán Óg Ó hAilpín, John Gardiner, Luke O’Farrell and Niall McCarthy (injured), with call-ups for Anthony Nash, Conor O’Sullivan, Tom Kenny, teenager Darren Sweetnam (making his SHC debut), Cathal Naughton and Jamie Coughlan.

Meanwhile, Eoin Kelly is the most notable omission as Tipp make three switches from the team that started against Limerick.

Conor O’Brien, Shane McGrath and Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher are rewarded for their impressive cameos against Limerick, taking over from Donagh Maher, James Woodlock and 2010 All-Ireland winning captain Kelly.
