Maguire injury blow for Dublin

GARY MAGUIRE is in serious danger of missing the Dublin hurlers’ first match in the defence of their Leinster SHC crown.

The 2011 All Star suffered a fractured thumb in action for Ballyboden St Enda’s in a recent club championship match against St Pat’s, Palmerstown.

Management have confirmed that Maguire is now a doubt for June 14th, the date on which Dublin will begin their Leinster campaign against the winners of Wexford and Antrim.

Alan Nolan lined out in a recent challenge match against Clare and the experienced St Brigid’s netminder would most likely deputise again if Maguire misses out.

Finn McGarry - who has recent starred as a forward for Boden - is the squad’s other goalkeeper.

Already, Dublin have doubts over Maguire’s clubmate Shane Durkin, who injured ankle ligaments in Ballyboden’s first game of the Dublin SHC against St Oliver Plunkett’s/ER, although Danny Sutcliffe looks set to be available after a speedy recovery from a hand injury.
