Lyons backs Connolly call

FORMER Dublin manager, Tommy Lyons, has praised the CHC's decision to clear Diarmuid Connolly for the All-Ireland final as “very good for |the GAA”.

“I think this committee this |year have had a fantastic year,” |said Lyons.

“I think the only decision I'd have disagreed with was Brian Farrell |(who was sent during Meath's clash with Kildare and failed to get his |ban rescinded).

“I think they got every other big call right this year. I think that's what we need in the association, that kind of leadership on the discipline side of things, because pushing a player in Gaelic football isn't a red card because it's not soccer, it's not.

“It's a physical game played by men who go out and compete.”

Lyons added: “The other reason it's fantastic is that they won't be appealing it for the next 10 days, |we'd have so much copy filled we'd |be missing the main gig which is Dublin-Kerry.”
