IT has become something of a cliché over the last two years. Any time a qualifier draw is due to take place the 'no one will fancy an away draw against Longford' line gets trotted out.
There is plenty of merit to it too. The wins against Laois and most recently Derry have shown that for all their good football and neat interplay, Longford have developed a belly for a scrap.
Seán McCormack is blossoming. His 11 points against Derry makes him the top scorer in this year's Championship.
John Keegan is available despite being carried off with a serious-looking neck injury in the Derry win.
Limerick, meanwhile, will have done plenty of soul-searching about their bizarre defeat by Clare. Trailing 1-9 to 0-3, they performed the classic 'favourites-belatedly-ramping-up-the-pressure' routine to lead approaching the final whistle but then contrived to lose by two.
It should be Longford's day, however, regardless of which face Limerick put on.
