Lilywhite All Star Kelly facing surgery on injured knee

KILDARE All Star defender Peter Kelly will be going the surgical route after tearing his cruciate ligament while playing for UCD in the O'Byrne Cup last week - effectively ruling him out for most if not all of the Lilywhites' 2011 campaign. Kelly hopes to have the knee operation in early February.

More immediately, the Lilywhites manager, Kieran McGeeney, have delayed naming a team for Sunday's O'Byrne Cup semi-final against Westmeath in Mullingar.

Hugh Lynch has been suffering with a bug and, given their relative dearth of midfield options at the moment, management are giving him until tomorrow morning to prove his fitness.

A reshuffle could be on the cards if Lynch fails to play, but otherwise the team is likely to be on similar lines to the one that eclipsed O'Byrne Cup holders DCU last Sunday.

Corner-back Ollie Lyons (shoulder) is definitely out, with Hugh McGrillen a potential replacement in defence.

KILMACUD CROKES won't be announcing their team line-up ahead of Sunday's Leinster club SFC decider with Rhode at Portlaoise, although few if any changes are expected from the team that overcame Garrycastle back in November.

Wexford senior footballer, Adrian Morrissey, suspended for the semi-final, is back in contention for a starting place but manager Paddy Carr is also fitness updates on half-backs Dublin senior footballer, Cian O'Sullivan, and versatile defender Ronan Ryan, who are carrying slight knocks.
