Lilies expect Earley return
KILDARE are confident that their two currently crocked midfielders, Dermot Earley and Hughie Lynch, will both return to action during the second half of the Allianz Football League, writes Frank Roche.
The high-fielding duo both succumbed to serious knee trouble last season - Earley suffered a dreaded recurrence of his 2010 cruciate injury, while Lynch's impressive summer run was ended by the same injury during training for their qualifier against Meath.
However, selector Niall Carew has now revealed that both players are expected to resume full contact training in six weeks. "We would hope to get a couple of league games into Dermot.
Himself and Hughie are making great progress under the rehab of Julie Davis and David Lyons, our physio," Carew explained.
"Obviously we won't rush them but we'd like to see them having some league time and, the way things are going, it looks like they should feature at some stage."
More immediately, All Star Mick Foley could feature at some stage of next Sunday's O'Byrne Cup clash with Dublin, while fellow defender Andriú Mac Lochlainn (hip) is also available for selection after he resumed full training on Tuesdaynight.
