Larriers knock Ravens for four on return to top
DUBLIN AFL1/2 ROUND-UP
PROMOTED O'Toole's made a winning start on their return to life in Dublin's Adult Football League Division 1 with a noteworthy 4-5 to 0-12 win over Fingal Ravens in Rolestown yesterday morning.
Christy Mulligan, David Mooney and Michael Cunningham all impressed for the visitors and a brace of goals by corner-forward Conor McStay in addition to further goals by Ger O'Meara and Keith Horgan saw the Larriers home by five points.
At Broomfield, Declan Lally made his competitive debut for new club St Oliver Plunkett's/Eoghan Ruadh, being introduced 25 minutes from time, as the Navan Road club recorded an impressive 0-12 to 0-6 victory over St Sylvester's.
Paul Brogan and Rory O'Connor shone defensively for a Plunkett's side missing the injured Ross McConnell but five points from Garreth Smith and an impressive showing from Alan Brogan was sufficient for Plunkett's to prevail.
A late penalty save from Stephen Cluxton proved crucial as Parnell's enjoyed a narrow 1-11 to 0-12 win over county champions St Brigid's at Russell Park.
Conor Mortimer scored the only goal of an absorbing encounter, with the midfield battle between Conor Talty and Andrew Shore from the visitors against John O'Loughlin and Seán Murray from St Brigid's enhancing the quality on offer.
At Mobhi Road, five points from play by Brian Downes and Paddy Quinn's free-taking was enough for Na Fianna to overcome Lucan Sarsfields by 1-15 to 1-8 with Enda Ledwith and Niall McGovern rocks at the heart of the hosts' defence.
An understrength Ballymun Kickhams required a Derek Byrne goal to clinch a 1-9 to 0-9 win over Ballyboden St Enda's.
Meanwhile in Division 2, Ciarán Whelan's tenure as Raheny manager got off to an impressive start as his side enjoyed an emphatic 0-17 to 1-3 win over Nh Mearnóg. Ciarán Murphy and Eoin Reid would have pleased Whelan with their midfield partnership while Eoin Delaney, Collie Woods and Gavin Ivory shared ten points for the visitors.
SUBS Conchur O Duibhir and Cian O Ceallachain played key roles as Colaiste Eoin defeated Moate CS 2-9 to 0-14 to progress to the Leinster Colleges SFC 'A' final where they will face St Mary's of Edenderry.
