BOTH Ciarán Kilkenny and Kevin O'Brien will be fit and available for the start of the new Gaelic football season.

The Dublin duo missed most of this year's league and the entire championship following cruciate ligament surgery, but manager Jim Gavin yesterday confirmed that "their training programmes have gone to plan and their plan would be to see action at the start of the year."

Meanwhile, Alan Brogan and Denis Bastick will decide in the next fortnight whether they'll recommit for another season in Sky Blue.

"We've had discussions with those players, but it's really not until we go back as a group in early December that those players will make those final decisions," said Gavin, speaking from the GAA/GPA All Stars football tour in Boston.

"I've discussed it with them, and those players are important for Dublin football - but the fit has to be right for those players.

Paul Mannion won't return from his study year in China until next June but, according to Gavin, this doesn't rule him out of contention for a championship recall.
