Jacob inspires ominous Oulart past Kilcormac
WEXFORD champions Oulart-The Ballagh will enter the AIB Leinster Club SHC final as favourites following their 1-18 to 2-11 victory over last year's provincial winners, Offaly's Kilcormac/ Killoughey at O'Connor Park, Tullamore yesterday.
In a repeat of last year's final, Oulart, recording a historic first victory over Offaly opposition in the provincial club competition, came with a storming second-half to overcome their opponents and book a provincial decider against Carlow's Mouth Leinster Rangers in two weeks' time.
Wexford senior Rory Jacob was the scorer-in-chief for his side, helping himself to 1-4, while David Redmond also checked in with four important points.
The men from the Faithful County led 2-6 to 0-7 at the interval but Martin Storey's (pictured) five-in-a-row Wexford kingpins dominated on the restart to run out deserved four-point victors.
The visitors started promisingly and opened up a 0-4 to 0-2 lead before Ciarán Slevin's long-range free went straight to the net in the 15th minute to propel Kilcormac/Killoughey in front. Six minutes later Dan Currams put the Offaly men in the driving seat but on the resumption the balance of power swung the way of Oulart with three quick points from Redmond crucial as they began to build a winning momentum.
They were level by the 38th minute thanks to a Rory Jacob goal and from there Storey's men never looked back.
