Jackies focused on lifting it again for Laois
MEARNOG will have the blue carpet out. The Leinster champions are coming to Portmarnock next Sunday.
The scenic North Dublin location is bucket and spade country. Dublin will know they'll have to dig deep to advance to the TG4 Leinster final on July 15.
Just as Kildare did last Sunday, Laois will pose formidable opposition.
The counties have enjoyed some marvellous duels over the years.
"We were reasonably happy with the display against Kildare," noted Dublin selector, Pat Ring. "The girls worked hard and they showed admirable determination.
"Kildare put it up to us. They are a very good side. We expected a hard test, and that is exactly what we got.
"When Kildare scored their first goal midway through the second half, we couldn't have asked for a better response. We came back and hit six points without reply, and that was very pleasing. The girls certainly put in a big effort and it was a good result."
Dublin comfortably beat the Lilywhites in the league, but the Jackies knew this was going to be a entirely different punnet of strawberries.
"You can add 40 to 50 per cent intensity onto the championship as compared to the league, and we prepared for that," added Pat. "It was always going to be a difficult game for us. It was never going to be any other way.
"Now, the concentration this week will be on lifting it again for Sunday. The girls are focused on the job at hand and that is now Laois.
"Everybody concerned - players and management - all accept that we will have to lift it again for Sunday. It is going to be another big challenge."
