Galway star Ger Canning is out for four ties
GALWAY'S star forward Joe Canning is set to miss most of the upcoming Allianz Hurling League owing to a broken finger.
The Portumna clubman suffered the injury in Galway's Walsh Cup victory over Offaly on January 25 and may not return until the Tribesmen's clash with Dublin on March 22 (Round 5) in Parnell Park.
Galway manager Anthony Cunningham said: "Probably the second half of March (for Canning's return). He has two pins in a bad enough fracture on the small finger.
"It's unfortunate for Joe. We'd like to see him playing all the league matches and he's very disappointed."
Galway, who defeated Dublin in last Sunday's Walsh Cup final, face Clare this Sunday in their Division 1A opener.
