NA FIANNA cruised into the quarter-finals of the Dublin Senior Football Championship after overcoming a weakened UCD by 26 points at O'Toole Park last night.
The warm favourites made a dream start with David Quinn netting via a deflection in the opening minute after Eoin Murchan had made a superb break from deep.
Conor McHugh increased Na Fianna's lead with two points in quick succession before Aaron Byrne confidently despatched a penalty in the eighth minute after UCD keeper Colm Hohan was harshly adjudged to have foot-blocked Adam Caffrey in the act of shooting.
Further points by Paddy Quinn, Tomás Brady and Jonny Cooper eased the Glasnevin club tp a 2-8 to 0-3 interval lead.
JJ Martin and Byrne added further goals upon the restart and although UCD kept plugging way through midfielder Jack Barry and full-forward Conor McCarthy, their fate was sealed in the closing stages as Eoghan Neville netted twice.
