Faughs preserve Senior 'A' status
Goals in either half from Carl O'Mahony and Eoin Prendergast proved crucial as Faughs narrowly defeated St Brigid's by 2-11 to 0-16 in their Dublin SHC relegation play-off at O'Toole Park on Saturday, writes Ronan MacLochlainn.
O'Mahony converted a penalty midway through the first-half to boost a Faughs team that impressed through the efforts of full-back Shane Campion and wing-forward Fergal Heavey, who chipped in with two points.
Prendergast's 35th minute strike and a brace of scores by substitute John Kelly left their side nine points clear and a brave Brigid's comeback fell short despite the excellence from placed balls of Paul Winters.
Crumlin were another team to ensure their senior standing as they beat Parnells comfortably by 3-16 to 3-6.
In AHL1, holders St Jude's moved into third spot with Ronan Joyce's goal early in the second-half easing them to a facile 1-27 to 0-9 win over Ballinteer St John's with Danny Sutcliffe, Tom Devlin and Wayne Hutchinson impressing for Jude's.
