Farrell's young guns face Carlow

DUBLIN'S minor footballers will meet Carlow in the first round of next year's Leinster MFC. Dessie Farrell's men were dramatically pipped in this year's All-Ireland final by Tipperary and Farrell is expected to manage the minors again next year as they bid to go one further.

The Dublin under-21 footballers will face Laois in their respective first round after the draws were made at Leinster Council's meeting in Portlaoise last night.

Dublin were not seeded this year after surrendering their provincial and All-Ireland titles in the first round this year against Meath in Navan (after extra-time). The victors between Dublin and Laois will progress to meet Wexford in the quarter-final.

In the under-21 hurling draw, reigning provincial champions of the last two summers, Dublin, have avoided Leinster's 'big three' until a possible provincial final.

The Dubs face Laois in the quarter-final with the winners drawn to play Laois while Kilkenny, Offaly and Wexford all reside on the heavier side of the draw.

Dublin's minor hurlers will be seeded along with Kilkenny and must await the results of the first round matches before a draw decides their opponents.
