PETER CLARKE is the new boss of the Jackies. The appointment of the Mearnóg man was confirmed at last night’s meeting of the Dublin Ladies County Board.
“We are absolutely delighted. Peter has proven pedigree. He’s so professional in his approach,” stated Dublin chief, Maureen King.
Clarke brought Monaghan to this year’s All-Ireland final and he won three successive O’Connor Cups with DCU. Clarke’s selectors include Angie McNally (Ballinteer St John’s), Colm Kearney (St Sylvester’s), Pat Ring (Foxrock-Cabinteely) and Cathy Gallagher (Trinity College).
Clarke and McNally have teamed up before at DCU, as well as guiding Dublin to All-Ireland Senior ‘B’ success. McNally, Dublin’s decorated |All-Star, was also a selector with the Dubs last season.
Clarke takes over from Tommy Brown who had the job for a year after spending the previous four campaigns on the Gerry McGill ticket, which saw Dublin collect the Brendan Martin Cup for the first time in 2009.
“It’s a big boost for Dublin to get somebody of Peter’s stature in the sport. He has a wonderful knowledge of the game,” added Maureen.
