IF any other team suffered four retirements in less than a week, it would be construed as either a harbinger of demise or a sign that all was not well in the camp.
Not in Kilkenny.
True, the quickfire announcements - Tommy Walsh, David Herity, then Brian Hogan and Aidan Fogarty - may be unusual and leave Brian Cody's dressing-room some 29 All-Ireland SHC medals lighter next year.
But all four are over 30, only one (Hogan) started the drawn All-Ireland, none started the replay and none was likely to command a place next summer.
As ever under a manager consumed by the next challenge, not the last triumph, those killer Cats keep evolving. Only one unanswered question: whither King Henry?
