Duggan sees 'Knock home

A dramatic late score from Kieran Duggan helped Castleknock to overcome near neighbours St Peregrine's by 0-17 to 1-13 in their thrilling Dublin Adult Hurling League Division 3 promotion play-off final at Somerton Park last Sunday morning.

The hosts looked well set for victory as they enjoyed a 0-11 to 0-4 interval advantage but Peregrine's responded well in adversity to draw level in the closing stages.

Castleknock will now play senior league for the first time in their history and they were indebted to the displays of Paul Burke, Conor Corcoran and Tom Quinn as they seized control from the opening whistle.

Scores followed through Brian Hughes, Conal Purcell and the lively Shane Boland as 'Knock increased their lead after the break but the visitors were handed a lifeline through Colm Foley's goal from a free in the 45th minute.

Shane Sweeney, Neil McCarthy, Andy Larkin and substitute Eric Lowndes worked tirelessly to trim their side's arrears but their efforts proved in vain after Duggan's late intervention.
