Dublin delivered a dominant final quarter performance to pull away from a flagging Westmeath when completing a well-deserved four-point win in their Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Football Championship semi-final in Cusack Park on Saturday.

The visitors looked in trouble when Ben McGauran's well-taken goal in the 36th minute pushed Westmeath five points clear but the hosts managed just one solitary point from that juncture as Dublin assumed control of matters until the final whistle.

The first half was a curious affair in which both teams enjoyed prolonged pockets of dominance with Alex Rogers kicking three points to edge Dublin 0-6 to 0-3 ahead by the 19th minute.

The hosts dominated from that point with McGauran matching Rogers' tally as they entered the break 0-9 to 0-7 to the good.

Dublin's response to McGauran's goal was vital with Ross Keogh shining from the bench with a trio of scores while Luke Swan's redeployment away from full-forward allowed the Dubs to control possession by the end.
