The Dublin club GAA schedule will continue as planned, the county board have confirmed, despite two positive Covid-19 tests over the weekend.

Sunday's Dublin SFC clash between Raheny and St Oliver Plunkett's/ER was postponed after one of Raheny's players tested positive.

On Friday, Fingallians shut down their juvenile games section for the same reason.

The recent spike in cases and regional lock-down of Kildare, Offaly and Laois has sparked fears that some counties may be forced to abandon their competitions.

In a missive to clubs, however, the Dublin county board issued a set of guidelines to follow in the case of a positive test and insisted that the programme of fixtures would continue as planned.

In the note, county board chief John Costello said he accepted that it is "the prerogative of each club to adopt a cautious approach if they decide to suspend activity."

He added, however, that the Dublin county board games programme will "continue as scheduled".

The county board are confident that the postponed Group 4 clash can be played off without disruption to the quarter-finals or a delay in running of the competition, barring any further returned positive tests.

With the Raheny hurlers fixed to play Naomh Fionnbarra this weekend in the quarter-final of the Dublin SHC 'B', the likelihood is that the postponed football match will be played early next week.

In that scenario, the quarter-final involving the second placed team in Group 4 will go ahead as planned, most likely on Sunday, August 30.
