Dubs keep close eye on injured Macauley and Cullen
MICHAEL Darragh Macauley will undergo treatment for the injury which forced him out of yesterday's Leinster SFC opener with Louth.
The All Star midfielder was a late absentee from the named starting 15 after he suffered an accident whilst cycling and was replaced in the team by Denis Bastick.
"He crashed on his bike during the week and damaged his midriff area," explained Pat Gilroy.
"He thought he was going to be alright but when he went to push off yesterday in training, he just couldn't do it so we will have to investigate it a bit more.
"We thought it was an innocuous thing but he went over the handlebars.
"Hopefully it's OK. It was only yesterday when we were doing a warm up and he couldn't push off it."
Captain Bryan Cullen failed to re-appear for the second half after he suffered a facial blow before the break. But Gilroy insisted he wasn't expecting the Skerries man to miss any action.
"There are concerns that there might have been something wrong with his cheekbone because it was swelling so much," he explained. "But hopefully it's OK. He'll go and get an x-ray on it now."
