Dubs ace Eoghan O'Gara ruled out for season
DUBLIN'S vaunted attacking arsenal has lost one of its most explosive weapons for 2015 after Eoghan O'Gara was ruled out for the rest of this season.
The powerful Templeogue/Synge Street forward (left) suffered the dreaded ACL rupture in action for the club on Sunday and a statement from Dublin senior football management last night confirmed the news.
In it, Jim Gavin said: "On a personal level, this is extremely disappointing for Eoghan.
"His start to the 2015 season had been very positive with some excellent performances in the O'Byrne Cup and National Football League."
O'Gara began the spring as Gavin's preferred full-forward and though he was held in reserve for their two most recent matches against Tyrone and Mayo, he drew praise from the Dublin manager for his role in setting up Dean Rock's draw-clinching goal against the Ulster side.
O'Gara's Dublin team-mate Ciarán Kilkenny sat out almost a year action with the same injury before returning in January.
