Dublin take 2005 title after replay

WITH a tight encounter expected in two days time, history tells us that matters are decidedly close when these two great rivals meet in provincial finals.

In 2004, Kildare pulled off a narrow 1-10 to 0-12 victory over the Dubs and 12 months later, a replay was required before the Blues eventually gained their revenge when recording a 0-13 to 0-11 win.

A week previously, a goal from Dabhach Dinneen and five points shared by Mark Vaughan and Ger O'Meara saw the Dubs draw 1-10 apiece in Navan.

The Dubs made numerous changes for the replay with five points from Kevin Leahy securing Paddy Canning's side the county's seventh Leinster title.
