Doolin does the business
DUBLIN'S U-15 South selection experienced a similar scenario to their North counterparts as they won one match from two in their inter-county blitz at Naomh Mearnóg.
The Dubs enjoyed a 4-8 to 2-5 win over Meath North in their opening fixture with Andrew Doolin of Clan na Gael Fontenoy in superb form for the Blues.
Doolin kicked 1-3 from play and he received able support from Ross McGarry, James Madden and Hugh Murray. The attack benefited from the excellent play of Darragh O'Shea from St Jude's.
It proved a far tougher affair in their second match as a strong Meath South team eventually prevailed by 4-7 to 2-9. Davy Keogh from Thomas Davis continued his fine form from the first match while Madden notched his second goal in as many games to keep Dublin in the hunt.
A further goal by O'Shea kept the contest in the melting pot but despite added points from McGarry, Doolin, Niall O'Leary, Sean Gillian and Amos Nohilly, the Dubs succumbed by four points.
A highlight for the watching Dublin football development officer and ex-Dub Stephen O'Shaughnessy was the performances of his Lucan Sarsfields clubmate Luke Walsh, who was immense throughout from corner-back.
