Cuala deservedly claimed the Dublin U16 B’ Football Championship title as they overcame a talented Craobh Chiaráin side in their high-quality final at Blakestown Road on Saturday lunchtime.
The damage was done in the second-half as the Dalkey outfit struck two quick-fire goals to help cement their dominance as the contest evolved.
Jack Hartnett opened the scoring for Cuala but Craobh were always in contention with Conor Ryan showing well at midfield while Conor McKiernan impressed from full-back.
Points by Tom Magee, Fionn Ó Drisceoil and Ross Broderick handed Cuala a tidy lead approaching the break but a scrambled Sean Nibbs goal ensured Chiaráin's trailed by just a point at the break.
Substitute Fionn O'Rourke made an instant impression upon his introduction, hitting two points upon the restart and a Magee goal from a free gave Cuala a decisive edge.
Goalkeeper Cormac Quinn made critical saves to preserve his side's lead and the game was effectively settled when Ruairí Frankling netted after an excellent team move by the Dalkey lads.
Craobh kept battling away through points by Nibbs, Keith Kirwan, Brandon Burnett and Cian Derwin but Cuala held firm to claim a well-merited success.
