CHRISTY COONEY wins 'Quote of the Week' for his defence of the decision to give a fiver with one hand (by reducing ticket tariffs for the qualifiers and beyond) while taking a tenner with the other (by bumping up All-Ireland final prices).
"I was at the Cork/Laois game in Portlaoise, the Cork person saved €5," the GAA president explained. They'll save €5 if they go to the Offaly game this week and if Cork go on in the qualifiers they'll save another €5.
"After two or three games they are practically going to the next game for free from what they have saved.
"If you went through a qualifier system you could actually save about €30."
Make that man Minister for Finance!
