Barry Coffey's point in the fifth minute of added time, his fifth from play of the contest, earned a replay for Sarsfields in yesterday's Kildare SFC final at St Conleth's Park, Newbridge.

In an exciting conclusion Ray Cahill, with his sixth point (0-3f), levelled the contest late on for Sarsfields but Eanna O'Connor, a son of new Kildare manager Jack, looked to have done enough to give Moorefield victory when he pointed in added time.

But Sarsfields did not give up with Coffey splitting the posts with a super equaliser to force a replay back at the same venue (2.0).

Goals from Mark McDermott and Eanna O'Connor gave Moorefield the dream start in their quest for a county three in-a-row and they moved six points clear, 2-3 to 0-3, by the tenth minute.

Moorefield led 2-5 to 0-7 with half-time approaching but importantly for Sarsfields scores from Ray Cahill and Matty Byrne brought 'The Sash' within two points by the interval. They could have nosed in front but Alan Smith's goal attempt rattled Ian McDonnell's crossbar.

Sarsfields upped their game on the restart with Cahill tagged on two points (one a free) to bring the sides level early in the second half.

Coffey was growing in influence for Sarsfields, who are managed by new Wicklow boss Davy Burke, and he clipped two fine points either side of an Adam Tyrrell score to edge 0-13 to 2-6 clear with 15 minutes to play.

Moorefield lost the experienced of former Kildare senior Ronan Sweeney, who had been introduced early in the second half, as he had to be withdrawn due to injury but two O'Connor frees saw Burke's men regain the lead.

Then in a frenetic finish Cahill kicked his sixth point before Kerry native O'Connor nosed Moorefield back in front.

Excellent

However, man of the match Coffey had the final work with his excellent equaliser.

The eventual Kildare champions will face the winners of the meeting of Carlow's Eire Og and Wexford's Castletown in a Leinster Club SFC quarter-final.

In the rest of the Leinster Club SFC first rounds Offaly's Ferbane will face Wicklow's St Patrick's with the winner progressing to meet Laois champions Portlaoise, Westmeath's Garrycastle pit their wits against Longford's Killow Emmet's and the winner faces the Meath champions while Louth champions, Newtown Blues, will face the eventual Dublin champions (Kilmacud Crokes/Ballyboden St Enda's/ St Jude's or Thomas Davis) in a provincial quarter-final.

Scorers - Moorefield: E O'Connor 1-4 (0-2f), M McDermott 1-0, E Heavey 0-2, A Tyrrell, A Masterson, L Callaghan 0-1 each. Sarsfields: R Cahill 0-6 (0-3f), B Coffey 0-5, M Byrne, C McDonnell, B McCormack (0-1f), Alan Smith 0-1 each.
