Brady's set to take full advantage

TOMAS BRADY will fill the full-back position for the Dublin footballers in their New Year's Day appointment against the Evening Herald/Dublin Bus Dubs Stars at St Peregrine's GAA, Blakestown Road (2.0).

The former Dublin hurler will be hoping to continue to impress new boss, Jim Gavin. Brady played a pivotal role at centre half-forward in Na Fianna's AFL Division 1 final victory last month.

The Na Fianna man is joined on the Dublin side by two of his club colleagues, the ex-All-Ireland U-21 winning captain, Jonny Cooper, and the Mobhi Road skipper, Tyrone native Paddy Quinn.

Clontarf's Jack McCaffrey also gets a start in defence. He's a son of the former high-class Dublin defender, Noel.

The midfield duo is made up of the Ballyboden pair, Declan O'Mahony and Michael Darragh Macauley, while the full-forward line has an exciting look to it. Paul Hudson and Philly Ryan will flank the home-town hero, Robbie McCarthy. McCarthy's Peregrine's team-mate, Eric Lowndes, is on the bench.

The reserves also see the presence of St Sylvester's Gary Sweeney who is making a return from a long-term injury.

DUBLIN (SF v Dubs Stars) - V Whelan; K O'Brien, T Brady, J Cooper; D Daly, G Brennan, J McCaffrey; D O'Mahony, MD Macauley; P Quinn, D Connolly, J Whelan; P Hudson, R McCarthy, P Ryan.
