A WEEK later than expected, our summer-long 'Beat the Bookies' battle with Leon Blanche and his Boylesports team draws to an All-Ireland climax. Unlike Kilkenny/Tipperary, though, it's all over bar the shouting after the Herald scooped €600, courtesy of our inspired €50 gamble (last May) on Kerry to land Sam at odds of 12/1. Great news for our charity, the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

THE BLANCHE BET: €25 on Tipperary to score first, lead at HT and win at FT @ 9/2; €10 on John O'Dwyer to be named RTÉ Man of the Match @ 14/1; €15 on Seamus Callanan to score first goal @ 11/2. CARRYOVER PROFIT: €345

THE HERALD WAGER: €5 on Noel McGrath to be named RTÉ Man of the Match @ 20/1; €5 on Paul Murphy to be named Man of the Match @ 25/1; €20 double on Kilkenny to score under 26.5pts @ 5/6 and Tipp to score over 26.5pts @ 10/11; €10 on Séamus Callanan to score first goal and Tipp to win @ 9/1; €10 treble on Hawk-Eye to be used @ 8/11, Richie Power to be any-time goalscorer @ 7/4 and Tipp point from play to be first score @ 2/1. CARRYOVER PROFIT: €1,336.08
