BERNARD BROGAN plans to spend Christmas persuading big brother Alan to give it one more lash with the Dubs.

The 2011 Footballer of the Year didn't see a minute of action with Dublin this year because of injury and will turn 32 in January, prompting his All Star sibling to admit there is a question mark over Alan's inter-county future.

"It was hugely frustrating for him this year. He's busy with work and family so he's questioning whether to go on and whether the legs will carry him," Bernard said of the elder Brogan.

"I'm just hoping he gives it one more year because he has so much to add. He was player of the year in 2011 and he delivers year in, year out.

"He's not going to lose any ground because he's a naturally fit guy. He never loses his pace and has a great engine. Over Christmas I'll be telling him to stay going."

Dublin's top scorer added: "I'm hoping missing out will give him the inspiration to come back. I'd like to see him go out on his own terms.

"He's given such service to Dublin that I'd like to see him go out in front of 80,000 people when it is time to go."
