NAOMH MAUR

BALLOON Race Update: One week to go. So far we've had about a dozen balloon tags returned, mostly from South Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow and Meath, but the leader to date is one returned from Lancashire in UK. Winner to be declared October 19th. AHL5: Kilmacud Crokes 1-18 St Maur's 0-15. Minor Football A Championship. St Maur's 1-09 St Vincent's 1-08. Best of luck to the Minor Hurlers as they play Lucan Sarsfields in the quarter-final of the B Championship next Sunday (19th October) at 11am in Lucan. The Seamus Carton Shield U11 Tournament yesterday at St Maur's. 6 teams taking part: Kiltale and Ratoath from Meath, Inniscarra from Cork and 3 Dublin teams; Sylvester's, Craobh Chiarain and St Maur's. Honours went to a very good Craobh Chiarain side, who won the Shield defeating Inniscarra in the A Final. Sylvester's won the B Final defeating Kiltale, while Maur's made it a clean sweep for the Dubs winning the C Final against Ratoath after a tense extra-time. Thanks to all the parents who supported and helped out yesterday, making it a special day for the 6 teams involved and to the U11 mentors for putting it together. The curtain came down on a great season for the Mods today when they bowed out at the semi-final stage of the U16 Camogie Championship to Erin's Isle in Skerries. Well done to our U15 football squad, who had a hard-earned victory over O'Toole's Sunday morning to qualify for their Championship Final. St Maur's U13 footballers lost out to St Margret's at home on Saturday. The U13 camogie team won their Championship semi-final earlier after a tough match against Naomh Padraig. Well done to U8 girls, who travelled to Kilmacud Crokes and played brilliant football against a very strong opposition.

NAOMH MEARNÓG

WELL done to our senior hurlers, who secured their senior league status with a well-deserved victory away to Erin's Isle on Saturday evening. This has been a difficult year for the squad due to injury and players travelling abroad. Nevertheless, the lads stuck to their task throughout the campaign and deserve their success. Thank you also to their management team of Cliodhna, Paddy, Damien, Tiernan and Brian. We send our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Ciaran Waters, who suffered a bad shoulder injury during the game. Congratulations to our U14 camogie girls, who have reached the Championship Final after defeating Naomh Bríd. On Saturday, we host the annual Gaelic 4 Mothers Tournament. Admission is free and all are welcome. All pitches at the clubhouse will be in use all day. The winter schedule for the All-Weather pitch will be sorted out this week. Congratulations to Ciaran Reale and Tina Keane, who got married at the weekend. We wish them a long and happy life together. We extend our sympathy to the Murphy family on the death of Irene's brother Paddy Kerrisk. May His Soul Rest In Peace.

Disappointment for our senior hurlers, who lost by the narrowest of margins to St Jude's in the semi-final of the Championship on Saturday evening. A great display and huge effort put in by the team in a tight, tense match and were very unlucky to come out on the wrong side of the scoreline at the final whistle. ST JAMES GAELS

ANOTHER fine win by our U13 boys against Na Fianna has set-up a final winner take all game against Clontarf in a few weeks' time. Fantastic performances by Jamie Livingstone in one end and superb commanding by Sean Dunne certainly helped getting the team over the line. There were also great displays by the U11 girls against St Mark's on Saturday evening. The U15 girls' Final has been fixed for Pairc Ui Bhrian (Naomh Olaf) at 2pm this coming Saturday. This is a huge day for Dave, Billy and all the girls, as well as a huge day for the club. I would ask anyone who is available next Saturday to head out and support the girls in what promises to be a great match. For more information, please log on to our Facebook page.

ST JUDE'S

ST MARGARET'S

ON the pitch it was an indifferent weekend for our 3 juvenile teams. The U16 Thomas Ashe team went down to O'Dwyers, an under-strength U14s went down to Thomas Davis & the U13s had a good win against St Maur's. The good news, despite the two defeats, is that the U14s & U16s have both qualified for league semi-finals & the U13s are all but guaranteed a play-off place for their league. Despite what happens for the rest of the year it has been another exceptional year for the juvenile club to have 3 teams to still be challenging for honours at the business end of the season. ST MONICA'S

TEAM of the week award goes to our girls' U17 team. The Monettes battled back from being 10 points down against Naomh Mearnog to finish the game as 2 point winners, blitzing the Portmarnock side in the final-quarter of the game. Both sides will meet again in the U17 County Shield Final on Saturday October 25th. Congrats also to our boys' U13 team, who travelled to Dalkey on Saturday and came away with a 5-09 to 3-05 win. This was a fantastic on the road victory, well done to all the players and their management team. Our U10 G4G had a great time playing in the Leinster Blitz on Saturday, which was hosted in style by Clontarf GAA Club. Many thanks to all the organisers. Big thank you to our G4G coaches; Shauna, Lisa, Jessie and Suzanne. Our U14 girls will play St Maur's of Rush this coming Sunday October 19th in the Division 2 Championship Final. While the venue and time are still to be confirmed, we would ask all members of St Monica's to come out and support the girls who have been in terrific form all season. ST PATRICK'S, DONABATE

OUR Lotto Jackpot continues to rollover. It's reached €7,300 now. The numbers drawn were 1-8-10-18. The five €20 winners were Terry Halpin, Joe Duignan, M Fitzgerald, Rose Duignan and Erin McGahan. Following a hard week's work, we have to give huge thanks to our Grounds Committee who - along with the new electrical contractor - put in trojan work to get the storm damage to the floodlights fixed so we could re-open the grounds by Saturday morning. Most of the labours done by this hard-working committee go unheeded but this week. All our eyes were opened to the work necessary to keep Ballymastone open and running. Thanks guys - we're very grateful. Elsewhere, on the pitch we had some wonderful wins. Our stout-hearted U13 boys beat St Jude's 5-07 to 4-08 to join Cuala at the top of their league. Our intrepid U14 boys beat Fingal Ravens 9-18 to 2-03 in Rolestown to secure their place in the league semi-finals, while our valiant minors beat Naomh Olaf 2-11 to 1-12. Meanwhile, our Juvenile Girls Section is going from strength-to-strength. Although the older girls had a week off, our U9s had to play against two clubs this weekend just so that their three squads could all get a run-out. Congrats to the girls and their mentors for a really great display of skill and sociability. They're gelling together so well and are very much looking forward to heading into the structured games of U10s footie. This year Donabate Community College are fielding U13, U14, U16 and U18 boys teams and U14, U16 and U18 girls teams. The U14 boys played their first game on Friday and join the other squads in being unbeaten this year. This is a great reflection on the depth of strength in our Juvenile Section.

ST SYLVESTER'S

THE club enjoyed its own version of Super Sunday, as the U15 footballers reached the Final of the A Championship with a win over Naomh Mearnog and the Bs made it a double with a Shield semi-final win over Whitehall Colmcilles. Well done to all concerned with two Finals in the one age group now to look forward to. Both minor football teams also had good Championship wins, with the As beating Scoil Ui Chonaill to remain on track for a semi-final place; while the AHL6 junior hurlers maintained the winning trend with a good win over Liffey Gaels to book a play-off spot. And the U13 footballers remain top of Division One after a good win over Ballyboden. The U14s and U16s also got in on the winning act to also stay top with respective wins over Lucan and Cuala. Our senior ladies are within touching distance of securing promotion to Division One: next up is an important league outing against St Maur's under lights at Lawless Park in Swords on Wednesday night (7.30pm). The U18 girls are in the Championship Final on Saturday against O'Toole's and the U16 girls are in Championship Final action on Sunday against St Olaf's. Support very much appreciated.
