Allen culls nine players from Limerick squad

NEW Limerick manager John Allen has only been in the job a week but has already culled nine senior players from the Limerick hurling squad.

The nine include past stalwarts Stephen Lucey, Donie Ryan and Pat Tobin.

They were informed by telephone over the past number of days after the panel was assembled for a fitness test on Saturday and each player was given a three-week fitness regime.

Ryan confirmed

The Waterford county board have ratified Michael Ryan as their new senior hurling manager.

Ryan succeeds Davy Fitzgerald and is the first Waterford native to manage the Deise in 15 years.

Pat Flanagan, Nicky Cashin and Brother Philip Ryan will join him as selectors.
