GAA has whole world in its hands
"THE GAA is no longer just a local game."
The words of Peter Gormley, Director of Sperrin Metal Storage Solutions.
The company sponsored the successful Middle East GAA team, the hosts for the first-ever Etihad World Games, which took place over the weekend.
Twenty eight teams took part in the event at Abu Dhabi. They came from all over the globe - Canada, New York, Australia, Europe and Argentina.
"With 20 per cent of GAA clubs based outside of Ireland, it highlights the growing popularity of the sport internationally," added Peter.
The sun shone. Everybody enjoyed the action, including the new GAA president, Aogan ó Fearghail.
Micheál ó Muircheartaigh was back in the commentary box.
He had good company, Pat Spillane and Valerie Mulcahy.
The weather must have reminded Pat of the time when he represented Ireland at the World Superstars in the Bahamas.
