United boss targets Europa decider against neighbours
ALEX FERGUSON is gunning for Roberto Mancini in the Europa Cup and would be delighted if the two sides of Manchester made it all the way to the final.
Manchester City cruised through to the last 16 with a 4-0 (6-1 aggregate) victory over Porto last night and Ferguson would love to keep the two clubs apart if they both survive the next round and go into the pot for a quarter-final open draw.
Seeding remains for the round of 16 but the format changes to an open draw for the quarter-finals.
"Ourselves and City didn't expect to be where we are today. Both of us will be trying to win it and it would be a great final," he said with relish.
Manchester United carry a 2-0 lead into tonight's second-leg against Ajax and once agin, Ryan Giggs will be the centre of attention, making his 900th appearance as a Red Devil.
"He keeps defying age. This season he has just been the same as he was back in Moscow (CL final, 2009). There is nothing changed from his performance level then as it is today."
