THE Tymon bells just keep on ringing. St Jude's have much to cherish from 2014.
And now their minor lady footballers have returned home with the Division 1 Shield.
And they did so after overcoming Templeogue Synge Street in a cracking local derby at Bushy Park.
A highlight of the match was the stunning scoring display of Jude's forward Faye McCarthy, who hit four goals and three points.
Jude's took the prize by three points, 4-8 to 1-14, but, right on the blow, only a magnificent point-blank save from Jessica Keating foiled Templeogue getting a draw.
Jude's, having played with the breeze, were a goal ahead at the break.
McCarthy produced two goals before the interval. Valuable points came from Caragh Dawson, Katie Mahon and Kate Hegarty.
Yet Synger, who began the hour brightly, took a grip of the contest, helped by the impressive contribution of Jennifer O'Dell.
Jude's found themselves trailing by two points. McCarthy then hit two crucial goals, while Mahon sent over one of the points of the season. Templeogue pushed hard for equality. Jude's held firm. Excellent defending.
The crowd were on their feet. Stirring stuff.
