Dublin Armada sail to Leeside for O'Connor Feast

THE Cork Institute of Technology will have the red carpet out.

They are hosting the prestigious O'Connor Cup this weekend. It's a highlight on the calendar.

The Dubs will be there in force. At high Noon on Friday, DCU meet UCC in the semi-final of the O'Connor Cup.

UL are the holders and favourites. They play NUIG in the second semi-final.

Trinity College have a semi-final date with Tralee IT in the Giles Cup, while St Patrick's will face Athlone IT in the other semi-final.

The Lynch Cup semi-finals will see DIT against Waterford IT and CIT v DCU.

Big crowds and high quality football are expected. DCU were the last Dublin winners of the O'Connor Cup when they completed the three-in-a-row in 2011.

This term, the Glasnevin college had to emerge from a testing tie against UCD to earn their place in the last four.

DCU have aces in Aisling Tarot, Lucy Collins and Lindsay Peat, the Dub who scored two goals in last season's All-Ireland final.

Last Sunday, it was Dublin's skipper, Lyndsey Davey, who scored two goals, and five points, all from play, as the Jackies enjoyed a handsome victory away to Laois.

It keeps the Dubs in the race for a play-off place in Division 1 of the Tesco Homegrown National Football League.
