GIOVANNI TRAPATTONI and Ireland's Euro 2012 adventure will grind to a shuddering halt if they cannot somehow conjure a way to contain mighty Spain in Gdansk tonight.
Cagey Trap refused to name his team in advance of the crunch showdown with the world champions. The fear is that no matter what team he picks, Ireland's resources are too thin to cope.
But Trapattoni believes there is hope and has urged his players to remember their own qualities.
“I am proud to be the manager of the Irish players because the Irish players have heart.
“We have attitude, mentality, commitment, technical ability. We don't make bets, but I think we can win. Why not?
“We can hope. We have a very delicate situation now. We are playing against a very strong team but we can win if we have the right attitude.”
